ABL SURSUM GmbH & Co. KG

eMH2
Wallbox for charging electric vehicles

 Industrial Design Performance
+ Visualisation of elegance and safety
+ Industrial Design for front panel
+ Development of the housing concept
+ Layout of product graphics

Technical Requirements
+ Consideration of IP protection requirements
+ Consideration of the manufacturing process
+ Incorporation of technical components

Product
at-design developed the Industrial Design of the wallbox  for ABL SURSUM. The Product Design was intended to bring technical innovation to the portfolio in the premium product sector. The aim was to give visual form to “safety” and “elegance”. Through the key feature in the design, the front-mounted “stage” on the front panel which bears the interface and the company branding, the rear housing and coiled charging cable were intentionally designed to remain in the periphery.

The housing concept conveys a sense of sleek elegance and “safety”, as does the clear and precise Product Design of at-design.

Siemens Mobility GmbH

SICHARGE UC Inverted Pantograph
Rapid charging station for e-bus systems

 Industrial Design Performance
+ Integration in urban surroundings
+ Industrial Design for new product development
+ Development of the housing concept
+ Product labelling and colour scheme

Technical Requirements
+ Consideration of IP protection requirements
+ Consideration of the manufacturing process
+ Incorporation of technical components
+ Consideration of statics

Product
The Industrial Design of the rapid charging station for electric bus systems was created for Siemens Mobility GmbH in the e-mobility sector. at-design’s aim was to produce a compact, urban Industrial Design. The character of the product needed not to be that of an open installation. The technical integration of functional elements in the Industrial Design and the positioning of the structural supporting construction within the housing were design to create a self-contained, coherent product language.

The clean-cut and logical form of the Industrial Design fulfils all of the product requirements, which include the simple transportation and structure of the system, and conveys a timeless and modern character in an urban environment.

eMC2
Charging station for charging electric vehicles

 Industrial Design Performance
+ Visualisation of robustness
+ Industrial Design for new product
+ Industrial Design and “design to cost”
+ Development of the housing concept

Technical Requirements
+ Design to cost
+ Consideration of IP protection requirements
+ Consideration of the manufacturing process
+ Incorporation of technical components

Product
at-design was commissioned by ABL SURSUM GmbH & Co. KG to design a charging station for e-mobility as part of a “design to cost” project. The Industrial Design is based on the following specifications:

+ Development of sheet housing in 90° angle / planar surfaces / bend radius R3.00mm
+ Low number of housing components
+ Use of existing display and counter units
+ Use of existing components (charging socket, door handle)

The aspiration of at-design was to create a clear, comprehensible housing design with technically integrated charging points.

Siemens AG

ELFA3 Bus Converter
Modular converter for hybrid and purely electrically powered electric buses

 Industrial Design Performance
+ Visualisation of significance and reliability
+ Industrial Design for a new product
+ Design of a modular drive system
+ Product graphics

 Technical Requirements
+ Consideration of IP protection requirements
+ Consideration of the manufacturing process
+ Incorporation of technical components

Product
at-design conceived the ELFA3 bus converter for the e-mobility sector of Siemens AG. at-design’s aim was to highlight “power” and “dynamism” as attributes in the Industrial Design. The structure of the Industrial Design revolves around the central placement of the company brand on the housing. Functional elements such as screw fittings and the assembly level were incorporated in the Product Design. This helps to create a clearly defined hierarchy in the distribution of the housing.

The precise Industrial Design, with its “monolithic” character, made it possible to communicate values such as “reliability” and “longevity” through the product.

MENNEKES GmbH & Co. KG

Mode 2 Charging Cable
Charging cable for charging electric vehicles

 Industrial Design Performance
+ Visualisation of safety and reliability
+ Industrial Design for a new product
+ Development of the housing concept
+ Ergonomics

Technical Requirements
+ Consideration of IP protection requirements
+ Consideration of the manufacturing process
+ Incorporation of technical components

Product
at-design conceived the “Mode 2” charging cable for MENNEKES GmbH & Co. KG in the e-mobility sector. The Industrial Design conception of at-design was defined by extreme requirements such as temperature ranges between -25°C and +40°C and withstanding a wheel pressure of 500 kg. at-design produced a unique language for the Mode 2 charging cable with striking edges and the centrally aligned housing. The housing also had to be laid out to allow manual operation of the interfaces.

at-design’s innovation in the Industrial Design is the housing design, which allows the charging cable to occupy less space when rolled up.
